Pienza has got that name since 1460, bifore that date the name of the senese castle of the Val d’Orcia was Corsignano, where October 18th 1405 Enea Silvio Piccolomini was born and that changed is name when he bacame Pope as Pius II. The genial the only surviving son af an impoverished noble man of Siena of the Piccolomini aristocratic family. Today Pienza is a Unesco Site since 1990 and well known sheep-cheese producing area of Tuscany.
